Hello,

apologize in advance for not speaking German :-( but maybe somebody could still help...

I am looking for a clinic in Germany for Radikale prostatektomie surgery (while living in another country) and it's very difficult to choose in lot's of information. Can somebody recommend a good clinic and doctor specializing on it?

In particular, medical travel agency that I contacted recommended urologie clinic in Dusserldorf-Gladbeck (led by Prof. Planz) - does somebody have any experience with it?

I recommend you to into a certificated Center oder in a Medical Center of an University. Here you' ll find a certificated Prostate Cancer Center near the airport of Düsseldorf and Münster. More Center I don't know.

Heribert, you were saying that Gladbeck urology clinic (prof. Planz) is a good address - could you please give some more details if possible. Did you have (or aware of anybody else having) a surgery experience with doctor Planz specifically? Is he specializing in prostatectomy or doing all kinds of urological surgeries? How good is he in laparoscopic prostatectomy and how big experience does he have (e.g. how many surgeries per year)?

It looks a bit strange for me that Gladbeck Urological clinic and Dr. Planz are not sited much in Internet e.g. in Urology research articles etc (unlike big University clinics like Hamburg, Heidelberg etc and some other urologists) and is also not "certified prostata centre" according to http://www.krebsgesellschaft.de/.

Hallo Simona,

sorry, I am very bad in English writing.

Die Ausgangsfrage war, ob die Urologische Klinik bei Prof. Planz gut geeignet ist, ein Prostatakarzinom operativ zu entfernen.

Unter der Leitung von Prof. Planz werden jährlich etwa 200 Prostatektomien durchgeführt. Wahlweise mit Laparoskop minimalinvasiv oder als offene Bauchschnittoperation. Mir persönlich sind 2 Mittbetroffene Männer (52 und 63 Jahre alt) bekannt, die bei Prof. Planz vor 3 Jahren ohne Kontinenzeinbuße minimalinvasiv operiert wurden. Bei beiden Männern konnte auch die Potenz erhalten werden.

Die ausgewiesenen Spezialkliniken für die operative Prostatakarzinombehandlung in Deutschland, sind die Martiniklinik und das UKE in Hamburg. (Fallzahlen von mehr als 1000/Jahr)
Für die Robotergestützte Operation mit dem Da Vinci Roboter ist das Prostatakrebszentrum St. Antonius-Hospital Gronau mit der größten Erfahrung zu benennen.(Fallzahlen von mehr als 250/Jahr)

Ich bitte bei der Auswahl zu bedenken, dass nicht immer die Klinik mit den größten Fallzahlen auch die individuellen Gegebenheiten des Erkrankten bestmöglich therapiert!
